To repair spine of books, this is exactly like the more expensive Cover One machine

LMT W. June 5, 2020

After looking at the Cover One thermal binding machine at another library in my district, I was struck by how useful and money saving the device could be. However, I didn't have the approximate $1200 to spend on it. After polling other librarians on Facebook, I decided I would give this a try! It is well worth the approximately $300 I spent on it and is well on it's way to paying for itself. It looks just like the "other" and works the exact same way. It is well worth the investment.

So far so good. The heating element seems to be consistent and reliable. I'll update the review down the road. But as of now, having only bound 10 or so books, I'd buy another one of this model.

We’re very pleased with the unit which is being used to bind limited publication histories. It’s extremely easy to operate thanks to the straightforward instructions. Our first printing and binding job looks very professional and well put-together. It’s also a major savings because it allows us to print only the number of copies needed at a given time, which means any additions, corrections or updates can be made whenever we want without worrying about an inventory of out-of-date editions. In addition, Thermobind, Inc.’s customer service is exceptional. Prior to fulfilling our initial order for the binding machine as well as a variety of covers and glue sticks, Mr. Bloomberg called to verify that we were not ordering unnecessary supplies, which was a first for us. He also offered to personally assist us in learning how to use the equipment. In our experience, there aren’t many companies specializing in various office supplies and equipment which offer that level of online customer support, especially to first-time buyers. The employee who is actually using the machine to make some great-looking publications, endorsed the Thermobind products by stating, “I give it 7 out of 5 stars.” We’ll definitely be doing more business with Thermobind, Inc.

I use this to make my own custom drawing sketch books. Really nice binding machine for the cost.

Thermobind is one of Unibind’s largest dealers with it’s own in-stock selection of thousands of Steelbooks, Photobooks and other Unibind supplies including many discounted overruns and custom made products not available elsewhere.

Why buy our products?

… ThermoBind has changed that equation by selling its thermal binding covers at about half the cost of the Thermabind covers offered by GBC, as well as 1/2 the cost of the thermal binding covers offered by Docubind, IBICO, Fellowes, Coverbind and others. This brings material costs in line with the comb and wire binding methods. The thermal book binding process is also far less time- consuming, with no holes to punch and no awkward alignment problems. Whereas combs and coils require that the two step process be done for each booklet, even our smallest thermal binding machine, the Fellowes TB250 can bind ten 20 page booklets in just two 30 second heat binding cycles.

Title Covers

In addition to all the standard pocket folders and binders that have been around for decades, ThermoBind offers an easier to use, faster, and better looking product, in the form of both soft and hard thermal covers. There are no holes to punch, nothing to staple, just a book store quality soft or hard cover presentation in less than a minute at a cost of as little as 64 cents!

For title companies, in addition to thermal covers, we offer legal size pocket folders, poly portfolios, custom hard covers, and hard portfolios in legal and letter size with capacities up to 2 ¼ “.

Among the major global companies we represent, our 100,000 sq. Ft. Printing and production facility in Kansas offers any type of binder, (see our site) from 3 ring turned edge to multi-panel pocket folders at pricing that is highly competitive.

Book repair is easy using our thermal binding machines and pre-cut glue strips.
For books where some or all the pages have fallen out can insert the appropriate width glue strip, reinsert the pages and heat the books in the thermal binding machine. Note that because the glue is not already bonded to the spine you will need to allow extra time for the glue to melt to the right consistency, (like that of maple syrup) so that the adhesive can wick into the sheets and result in a strong bind.

In some cases the pages are intact but there has been separation of the whole book block from the spine of the cover. For book spine repair, you can simply insert a glue strip in between the spine and the book block. Then heat and bind.
